Dominique Peccatte, Violin Bow, c.1830-1835, Paris

A “self-rehairing” model violin bow made for the firm of J. B. Vuillaume of Paris, the early work of the great French bow maker Dominique Peccatte, and converted for standard use. It has a round stick of dark red-brown pernambuco of high quality. The present silver-mounted ebony frog and three-piece adjuster were made by Stephen Salchow. This is a strong bow but with subtlety, and has wonderful playing qualities. It is also in excellent condition. Weight: 62.2gm with silver tinsel winding. Certificate by Paul Childs.
