A particularly healthy cello, representing the progress in the nineteenth century into the realm of modern cello construction. This instrument has a strong sound across the spectrum. The two-piece maple back is of faint medium curl. The two-piece spruce table is of varied medium grain. The varnish is an orange-brown color over a gold ground. Measurements: Length of Back: 736 mm, Upper Bouts: 334 mm, Middle Bouts: 236 mm, Lower Bouts: 434 mm. Certificates by W. E. Hill & Sons of London, and Florian Leonhard, London, as the work of Joseph Panormo.
