L. Panormo by Thomas Tubbs, Cello Bow, c.1835, London

A silver-mounted, octagonal pernambuco stick, 92.2gm, made by Thomas Tubbs for Louis Panormo about 1835 with the characteristic Panormo forward head chamfers, and ebony head-plate; it has a later silver-mounted frog in the style of the Knopf family; the handle seems to have been renewed with a graft, visible just forward of the leather grip, and, while it does devalue the stick to some extent, has no bearing on its strength or playability
