Ludwig Bausch, Violin Bow, c.1870, Dresden

A very fine silver-mounted bow, the work of Johann Wilhelm Knopf (1835-1912) or Carl Heinrich Knopf (1839- 1875) for Bausch. This bow is on the lighter, softer side, giving each bowstroke a smooth, elegant sound, and proving very agile and clean for daintier, faster passage work. A silver-mounted violin bow branded on the frog: L. BAUSCH. The round stick is of reddish-brown pernambuco with silver winding. The ebony frog has abalone eyes to the sides. The ebony adjuster has two silver bands and a pearl end dot. Weight: 59gm
